Basic Phonics is a 173-page color presentation of the structure of language. Research has proven that a knowledge of the sound structure of words is needed for successful reading and spelling. I have written this book so that a person may have a way of finding any missing knowledge in their use of sound structure. When the missing knowledge is found (by using the test) they may turn to pages which will give them the missing information. After this missing knowledge has been learned, they may use the book Roots for Literacy and develop a vocabulary with correct spelling techniques. I hope this book will aid tutors and home study learning. This book can be an aid to the upper grade classroom teacher and Reading Resource Specialist as a plan for re-teaching or a review of the phonic system. A test in word structure and association of symbols and sounds at the beginning of the manual will show the reader what they need to learn. The missed items on the test are marked. Page numbers associated with the marked missed items are the pages with the lessons for the study of the missed items.
