Multisensory Practice with Symbol and Sound

Multisensory Practice is a 255-page color presentation written for the beginning reader, writer and speller.

It is written in sections using a group of letters at a time (i.e. A-D) with a picture, a letter for finger tracing and a description of how to make the sound.

All groups of letters have:

bulletVisual, auditory & blending drills
bulletExercises on what letter comes before after and between
bulletExercises in hearing beginning and ending letter sounds
bulletA word list for reading and spelling each letter or letter combination is in the back of the manual
bulletSix syllable types with multiple spellings and spelling generalizations

Teacher/learner procedures are explained

The reader will learn:

bullet26 letters of the alphabet
bullet44 basic sounds
bulletLetters with more than one sound: a, e, i, o, u, y, c, s, g, ch
bulletMultiple spellings for a, e, i, o, u, y, c, s, k, d, f, g, j, r, t, z, ch, sh, oo, ur, er, ou, oi
bulletThe sound of r & l are influenced by the vowel that precedes them

Language is about 85% predictable, so a reader learns how to blend phonetic sounds together to form syllables of words.  The non-phonetic words are memorized.

Multisensory learning techniques are used.
